Keetna, the lovable dog that for years greeted patrons at Mount Si Sports + Fitness in North Bend, has died at the age of 16. That's about 80 in dog years.

Owner Ben Cockman brought Keetna (her full name was Talkeetna) to work most days.

As the business's beloved mascot, Keetna did a lot to help create a laid-back atmosphere at the gym.

"Greeting members, her friends, with a friendly wag of her tail, she was often rewarded with treats and lots of attention," Cockman told the Record. Even in her old age, Keetna knew a number of patrons by sight (or perhaps smell), and greeted particular friends with barks.

"Although she will be dearly missed, she led a wonderful life for 16 ½ years bringing us all the simple joys of life a good dog will bring.  And, she had fun doing it," Cockman stated

"Although I am very sad,  I was blessed with a good run of years with her for which I am most grateful," Cockman told friends in an e-mail. "It’s just tough to say goodbye."
